- Client – 1000 Cookbooks, CKBK app
- Product/service – the worlds best cookbooks, listed by the best in food, curated and at your fingertips on the CKBK app launching this Spring/Summer.
We’re really pleased to have started working on 1000 Cookbooks online content, creating original food posts daily on their Instagram feed (shared to FB and Twitter also). Taking a recipe a day, from both old and new cookbooks, we will be posting inspirational food images in association with food writers, cookbook authors and publishers.
Continuing in the classical yet gutsy style set out by their previous content creator, and now Art Director, Matt Inwood, we are given a brief for each post – the recipe, copy thread and timings are all agreed in advance via a monthly schedule – all we have to do is match our styling, photography and editing to that established by Matt (and much loved by their followers). No pressure then! Luckily, I have worked with Matt before and taken one of his Instagram Matserclasses so I do have a bit of an insight into how he lights and edits his shots. (I highly recommend Matt’s workshops – check his website or Insta feed @matt_inwood for details.)
So far so good. Here’s the feed as of today, our posts started at the orange Le Creuset dish on the 4th row down.
The CKBK app hasn’t launched yet so our aim at the moment is to continue the momentum on social media and build awareness of the platform prior to its funding campaign and app launch.
In their own words –
1000 Cookbooks aims to create a comprehensive and expertly-curated collection of the very best food and recipe content, made easily discoverable according to personal tastes and preferences. By mining the social web and its relationship to food, we plan to deliver a service that will meet the needs of anyone from the most avant-garde foodie to the most timid beginner in the kitchen.
As a starting point for our plans, we are now building a list of the Top 1000 cookbooks in the English language, as selected by an international panel of leading chefs, writers, editors, critics, bloggers and food professionals.
People love to eat, they love to cook, and they love to read about food, but although we are drowning in online recipes, much of the best food writing exists only in cookbooks. Good cookbooks not only contain great recipes – they provide context and background, explain techniques, and help readers to develop their own culinary style.
We believe that cooking, eating and sharing good food is central to a happy and healthy life. Our goal with 1000 Cookbooks is to help people discover the books and recipes which will help them to build their knowledge, expand their repertoire, and delight their family and friends.
